“A Wilderness”

This is a skin pieced together and stretched over a frame, as the gargantuan hide of the ground stretches over the earth. Pigment is worked in to the suede to preserve its character while giving it new life.

This is a wilderness, a confusion of shapes and shadows. Dissolving lungs full of craters, a heart being crushed into the dirt and becoming one with it, merging figure and ground. Decay as a form of abstraction, a breakdown into simpler components, becoming more precious and fragile as of something not tended to.
